On the return trip to Israel the plane was approaching Ben Gurion when it was ordered to eventually go back to the Ethiopia Airport from where it departed after a stopover from South Africa. Because it was the start of the Iran War on Friday morning there was no possible way to return to Israel. And when Dovid Pinchas speaks of a dessert Ethiopia is definitely in that category when looking for a place to spend Shabbat. The Ethiopia Chabad Shaluchim Come To The Rescue Bellieve or not there is a Chabad family that live in Ethiopia and because there were around 20 Jews including 5 of our family members who needed to spend Shabbat there, the Rebbe's vision became a lifesaver. The Rabbi arranged for them to be picked up from the accommodation supplied by the airline in time to bring in Shabbat early and the Rebbitzin arranged for Shabbat meals to feed all their new guests. The Sheluchim Receive An Unexpected Present There is much more to this story but the most important one ties into what Dovid Pinchas said. My two daughters had bought special food with a special South African Hechsher at a price much cheaper than it can be purchased in Israel. But it is something that can not be purchased in Ethiopia which the Sheluchim have a difficult time obtaining. So when my daughters heard that they offered all of it in appreciation of the wonderful Shabbat they spent there. This certainly was a most relevant lesson learned from this week's Parshah.
