To honor the memory of Rabbi Yitzhak Eliezer Gradnavich ZT”L we are introducing the “The Shemitah Hotline”. Because Rabbi Gradnavich passed away only 10 minutes before Rosh Hashana 5782, which represents the seventh year of the Shemitah cycle, when the land of Israel must rest. Rav Chaim Kanievsky asks that each Jew should learn two Shemitah Halachas each day. We will be doing so with a series of videos initially given by my son Dovid Pinchas in English and Hebrew as part of a project on Shemitah to honor Dovid’s Rabbi Gradnavich who I have written about in my previous Blogs.

Since Rabbi Gradnavich’s passing a number of other students and teachers have come forward to help with this effort to honor Rabbi Gradnavich. One Rabbi who began teaching at the Yeshiva Chochma V’ Daat around the same that that Rabbi Gradnavich established it 20 years ago is Rabbi Chaim Vidor who is a Magid Shiur and gives the morning Gemorah Shiur to the bocherim. Rabbi Vidor also serves as a Dayan in a Bnei Brak Beit Din where he lives.

Rabbi Vidor is a very well respected Rav within the Chochma V Daat Yeshiva as well as Bnei Brak who knows the Shemitah laws so thoroughly that he told Dovid he welcomes all Shemitah questions which he will be happy to answer directly on the phone or via Email. He is supplying Shemitah Halachahs daily which Dovid gives over after the Mishna Bruah Shiur following Shacharit in the Yeshiva. Dovid also gives over those Halachas to a group of Rechovot lawyers after learning the Daf Yomi with them.

Rabbi Vidor requests that you only phone after 1400 or 2pm Israeli time and since these are his direct numbers he may be away from his phone therefore it is recommended you send questions via his email as an alternative and he will respond in due course.
